Summary

"A quarter of a century after her first book, Thinking in Pictures, forever changed how the world understood autism, Temple Grandin-the "anthropologist from Mars," as Oliver Sacks dubbed her-transforms our understanding of the different ways our brains are wired。 Visual thinkers constitute a far greater proportion of the population than previously understood, she reveals, and a more varied one, from the purest "object visualizers" like Grandin herself, with their intuitive knack for engineering and problem-solving, to "visual spatials"-the abstract, mathematical thinkers who excel in pattern recognition and systemic thinking。 With her genius for demystifying science, Grandin draws on cutting-edge research to take us inside visual thinking and its intuitive affinities for design, innovation, and problem-solving。 She also makes us aware of how a world geared to the highly verbal screens out visual thinkers from an early age。 Rather than continuing to waste their singular gifts, driving a collective loss in productivity and competitiveness, Grandin proposes new approaches to educating, parenting, employing, and collaborating with visual thinkers。 In a highly competitive world, this important book helps us to see, we need every mind on board"--

I had only read T。Grandin's articles up to this point and it is a pity。 Certainly what I learned about visual Thinkers will be, and not only for me, a starting point to implement at least some kind of research, and then hopefully different kinds of school and university curricula as well。 Avevo letto solo articoli di T。Grandin fino a questo momento ed é un vero peccato。 Sicuramente quanto ho imparato sui visual Thinker sará, e non solo per me, un punto di partenza per implementare quanto meno un I had only read T。Grandin's articles up to this point and it is a pity。 Certainly what I learned about visual Thinkers will be, and not only for me, a starting point to implement at least some kind of research, and then hopefully different kinds of school and university curricula as well。 Avevo letto solo articoli di T。Grandin fino a questo momento ed é un vero peccato。 Sicuramente quanto ho imparato sui visual Thinker sará, e non solo per me, un punto di partenza per implementare quanto meno un certo tipo di ricerche, e poi spero anche diversi tipi di curricola scolastici ed universitari。 。。。more

Thank you Penguin Riverhead and NetGalley for the advanced electronic review copy of this wonderful book。 I really enjoyed this fascinating look into the minds of visual thinkers。 It made a lot of sense to me。 I highly recommend this book to educators, parents, and anyone who would like to learn more about a different view on life。

I greatly admire Temple Grandin。 I have a sister who is autistic and her other books have helped me to understand and have kindness for my sister and others with autism。 Visual Thinking is another great book to help one understand and see their own gift with being autistic and even maybe how to use those gifts。 Great book。

A very complex but deeply fascinating look at visual thinking, both through the lens of Autism as well as the varying ways in which we learn and communicate。 I found myself wanting more concise explanations in some areas, or a more distilled presentation of the facts/research, but overall enjoyed the immense lessons both on how we can change the way we school our kids and how we approach our work too。 Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the free advanced copy。 DNF @ 35%。

Thank you for another Goodreads giveaway!I enjoyed this book and completely agree with the fact that all of our learning styles and perspectives should be reviewed to allow our talents to be applied to all sorts of prospective careers。 I think if we took notice of how each individual learns and what their strengths are, the world would be a much stronger and productive place。I enjoyed this book and would highly recommend!

I received an ARC from goodreads in exchange for an honest review。 I was motivated to read this book for two reasons 1。 I enjoy Oliver Sacks work and Ms。 Grandin was one of his subjects and 2。 without giving names I'm pretty sure a close individual in my life is a visual thinker even though they haven't explicitly expressed this to me yet。I found value in learning about visual thinking from the perspective of a person living the experience rather than a scientist studying it clinically。 Ms。 Gran I received an ARC from goodreads in exchange for an honest review。 I was motivated to read this book for two reasons 1。 I enjoy Oliver Sacks work and Ms。 Grandin was one of his subjects and 2。 without giving names I'm pretty sure a close individual in my life is a visual thinker even though they haven't explicitly expressed this to me yet。I found value in learning about visual thinking from the perspective of a person living the experience rather than a scientist studying it clinically。 Ms。 Grandin offered insight for how we (verbal thinkers) can adjust our world to take advantage of this unique perspective in a variety of situations (as parents, managers, etc。)。 。。。more
